A blog by a playwright who wrote a play about a famous actress coming out of a TV, with a few thoughts on diversity, social justice, and indie theatre.
He was on Howard Stern recently and they talked about being a playwright and how bleak it was. Hell, I've been writing plays for ten years and I'm only just making money doing it. (I still have a day job though.) Also, my book deal paid more money in the first half of my advance than all of the theater I've done ever.
Blech.
P.S. Thanks so much for the link to the lady mc documentary. It's AMAZING.
Well, in my case it's really a graphic novel deal. The editor saw my play, "The Chalk Boy" and had been thinking about it since then. One day she emailed me out of the blue and asked me to turn it into a graphic novel. I wrote up a proposal and her big burrito bosses picked mine.
